A Black Belt is a full-time process improvement specialist who leads complex, high-impact DMAIC projects and mentors Green Belts and Yellow Belts. Black Belts apply advanced statistical tools, manage change at organisational level and drive measurable financial and quality results.
In most organisations, Black Belts are dedicated to improvement work, reporting directly to senior management and acting as internal consultants for operational excellence.
Black Belt certification is the most advanced practitioner-level qualification in Lean Six Sigma and is globally recognised as a mark of technical and leadership excellence.
Green Belt certification or equivalent experience is recommended. Advanced Excel and basic statistics knowledge is beneficial.
The Black Belt programme goes significantly deeper than Green Belt, with emphasis on advanced statistics, experimental design and change management.
Define
Advanced project selection, business case development, stakeholder management, VOC and CTQ tree, complex SIPOC and project scoping.
Measure
Advanced measurement system analysis (MSA/Gauge R&R), detailed process capability, sampling strategies, data normality testing.
Analyse
Hypothesis testing, ANOVA, regression analysis, multi-vari analysis, correlation, logistic regression and advanced Minitab.
Improve
Design of Experiments (DOE), full factorial and fractional factorial designs, response surface methodology, simulation.
Control
Advanced SPC, FMEA, mistake-proofing (Poka-yoke), control plan development and sustaining improvements long-term.

On successfully passing the examination, you receive Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from ILSSI, IASSC or LSSIAP at your choice. Enviso is an accredited training organisation (ATO) for all three bodies.
ILSSI and LSSIAP certifications have no expiry date. IASSC certification is valid for 3 years.
